“Go out and fish for people.”

(Luke 5:10)

2012.02.20 – Tow Miraculous Fishing Incidents (Fish for People, Luke 5:10)

1st Incident                  February 20, 2012

2nd Incident:              March 13, 2012

First Incident: Miraculous Catch of Fish by Fishnet (February 20, 2012)

Location    :   Tunnuk, Chuuk, FSM

Witness     :   Erwin Mijares

Narrator    :   Etma

Narration:

On February 20, 2012 in the morning, Erwin, Tunnuk caretaker and my first cousin, was surprised to see a large number of fish on the fish net, not like when he set up the same net at the same location the other day when he got practically none. So, he brought to our house to be part of the evening party for my birthday. This might not be of importance since many still can be able to catch plenty fish in the same net at the same time. However, the date coincided with my birthday, and the second incident occurred after three weeks made it miraculous.

Second Incident: Miraculous Catch of Fish by Screwdriver (March 13, 2012)

Location    :   Anna’s Resort, Tunnuk, Chuuk, FSM

Witnesses :    Johnson Soichi, Celso Berdon

Narrator    :    Etma

Narration:

In the morning on March 13, 2012, my family, some of our employees, and I went to our beach at Tunnuk, which I called as Anna's Resort Chuuk (ARC). The day before this, I asked Erwin, the caretaker, to set the fish net to have some fish for following family activity. Unfortunately, there was no fish till about lunch time.

However, Johnson and Celso, the technicians, after fixing the ship docked at the nearby port, surprisingly brought with them a twelve-inch fish, talakitok in Filipino; see sketch below;

I approached them to see the fish and I found out how they caught the fish which I joked right away; the fish had committed suicide or perhaps another gift from divine. The fish, as narrated by Johnson, was caught by him using simply a screw driver. He hit the fish with screw driver as it laid flat on the surface of water by the side of the ship. The fish appeared suicidal for it let Johnson to see and just use the screw driver without any struggle. Then, Johnson merely picked it up like picking up a piece of wood, similar to this Miracle about the mysterious turtle;

Etma's Analysis for both incidents as of May, 2016

First Incident:

The first incident is a reminder of the two fishing incidents, as describe in the following verses;

Luke 5:4-6 (When Jesus was calling his first disciples)

4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”

5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”

6 When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break.

John 21:3-6 (Jesus and the Miraculous Catch of Fish)

3 “I’m going out to fish,” Simon Peter told them, and they said, “We’ll go with you.” So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing.

4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus.

5 He called out to them, “Friends, haven’t you any fish?” “No,” they answered.

6 He said, “Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some.” When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish.

Second Incident:

In the second incident, the fish was a divine gift (since no fish was caught since the other day);

  • “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”  (2 Corinthians 9:7-8)

Revelatory Message:

This is a strong call for religious leaders who fish not for people but money, making the world leaders to love money and power, instead, for us to love one another and care for the commoners, in line with Matthew 25:40.

The fishing by net incident is the reminder (reenactment) for the world of the two miracles Jesus did for his disciples in two different stages;

  • When he called his first disciples and told them to fish for people, Luke 5:1-10.
  • When Jesus was resurrected and met his disciples while fishing, John 21:1-11.

As a wake-up call:

  • Fish for people (Luke 5:10) especially seek and save the lost (Luke 19:10), and not just millionaries but the commoners.
  • Associate with people of low position (Romans 12:16) not those rich people living in mansions.
