     The first prayer of Jovel was when he newly arrived Chuuk on March 31, 2004 and having his first meeting with my boss, Anna (Etma’s wife). Mam Anna made a story about those people praying in front of her. She declared that most people used to pray in public or to be seen to impress others. So, Etma brought this subject to the class, emphasizing the point of Mam Anna, on the power of prayer only if you are doing it in action. Etma further stated that he was not against of that but just emphasizing of what he learned from the Gospel, Matthew 6:5-8.

 

Etma’s Analysis (Pen Fell Incident):

This incident is ordinary, but I addressed it miraculous and revelatory because of the following reasons;

• The sincere attempt of Zoilo to prevent it from happening again, since a couple of times he dropped pen within a week and was scolded.
• At that particular Etma narrated Jovel praying before having lunch with Etma and his wife, instantly, the pen dropped.
• And the third reason was when the pen pointed directly to the location of Jovel Tumacas, as shown on the above sketch.

Revelatory Message:

A call to follow praying manners per Matthew 6:5-8, as described as follow;

• Matthew 6:5, "And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full."
• Matthew 6:6, "When you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father, who is not seen. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you."
• Matthew 6:7-8, "And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

b)     2005.04.05: You’ve Got a Friend, Song Incident

Narration:

     As usual while doing some computer work in the bedroom, a song “You’ve Got a Friend” was played, and I experienced strange goose bumps on April 5, 2005. So, I stopped work and listened and replayed trying to understand the message. What came up to me is what I used to observe not just in Chuuk but in Philippines as well. People are used to rely in God including little problems which are within human capabilities. People keep thanking God even for little things. People think that they love God or serve God by those words done by tongue, which is against James 2:24, 1 John 3:18, and James 3:7-8.

     Well, this song is a reminder that something that we overlook. God blesses us with friend; we have the ability to make friends and to be a friend. In fact, it is mentioned as one way to attain eternal life, as follows;

• Luke 16:9, "Use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings."                    

     Why people used to become victims of the wicked religion, including me at my youth, because they made us believe that all good things came from God that we must always pray and thank God. And even we are asked to offer things and celebrate too much festivals and holidays, which are not in conformance with the following;

     Isaiah 1:13-14, “Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations— I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. Your New Moon feasts and your appointed festivals I hate with all my being. They have become a burden to me; I am weary of bearing them.”

     We are brainwashed by religious leaders, especially at childhood, that they want us to be so dependent to God, so that they can control our lives which is obviously not benefitting God’s flock but the man-made church and it’s leaders. In fact, God and Jesus do not want us to serve them, as indicated in the following verses;

• Acts 17:25, “And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else.”
• Mark 10:45, "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Etma’s Analysis (You’ve Got a Friend):

• The song, “You’ve Got a Friend” is an old song but still popular and I heard it many times; but it suddenly and intensely attracted my attention in this incident.
• I experienced strange goose bumps in huge degree.
• From deeper study of the lyrics, I found out of the wonderful meaning of the first part that has something to do with praying, that most of our prayers are actually answered or can be answered by our friends.
• God blessed us, human beings, with the ability to make friends which is how to fulfill the commandments by loving each other (Romans 13:8)

Revelatory Message( You’ve Got a Friend):

The message is expressed in the following biblical verses below;

• Luke 16:9, "Use worldly wealth to gain friends for yourselves, so that when it is gone, you will be welcomed into eternal dwellings."

 

c)     2008.06.02: Praying Mantis

Witnesses            :    Junior (15 yr-old son of Joe) and Marsino

Narration:

     While I was in isolation living for one month in a rundown house in Inarajan, Guam, there were two incidents when two mantises appeared.  The first mantis appeared on June 2, 2008 at my upper back while Marsino, Junior, and I were doing some clearing for vegetable gardening at the backyard. When Marsino saw it, he was about to remove and perhaps kill and I stopped him and transferred the mantis back to the banana tree, as being watched by Junior, the 15 year- Chuukese boy who l found out later on as a lover of nature. When Junior asked me why I saved and returned the mantis in the wild, I simply explained that insects are our friends with brief mention of Genesis 1:28-29, without relating of the many instances that insects mystically interacted with for the past three years.

     The second mantis which was much bigger than the first appeared at approximately the same time about 10 A.M. on June 13, 2008, but this time, it was handed to me by Junior, the son of Joe, my Chuukese neighbor. Junior, as I observed is a lover of nature as opposed to Marsino, who almost killed the first mantis. While sitting and resting in the dilapidated dirty kitchen, I observed the praying insect closely and attentively, especially of the strange formation of her big forelegs (or hands, which hard to assume because insects are defines with six legs). Please see the picture below taken from internet and not the actual since I did not have camera that time to take the actual insect; but just to demonstrate why its name becomes “Praying Mantis.

     While resting from clearing the backyard with Junior, I stared and noticed of her forelegs in the formation of a praying person. Unconsciously, I emulated by having my hand forward and in contact to each other (see picture below). And to my surprise, when I looked into the space formed by my hands, I figured out a heart shape. And then, I established myself that such insect was under divine intervention to give me a hint on how to position the hands in praying. So, from all my prayers especially when I was trying to heal some illnesses which are beyond human capability to cure, I applied that posture putting my hands in contact to the sick person and utter quietly and sincerely from the heart, “God help this person, uttering his or her name”. And even when I am alone, especially under meditation, I keep on practicing to pray with such formation of the hands and no longer of the clasped-hands style that I learned and practiced before, particularly at my young age.

Etma’s Analysis:

• Nowadays, mantis is very uncommon to see around, that it became very strange for its two appearances within 12-day period.
• By having other people and set-up, I am comfortable to say that it was a divine guidance showing how to pray with our hands forming a heart shape and importantly we do it quietly and privately as the mantis does (Matthew 6:5-7).
• Somehow, it just appears praying but actually preying, by which it lives by preying upon others and the worst, it does it to its own species which could be interpreted that God is giving signs for what most religious leaders do. They pray but also prey on their own members in the mask of religion.

Revelatory Message (Mantis):

     This serves as warning for the people from man-established religion which uses God for sordid gain, expressed in Luke 20:45-47; “Beware of the teachers of the law. They like to walk around in flowing robes and love to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces and have the most important seats in the synagogues and the places of honor at banquets. They devour widows’ houses and for a show make lengthy prayers. These men will be punished most severely.”

And well supported by the following biblical verses;

• “They are dogs with mighty appetites; they never have enough. They are shepherds who lack understanding; they all turn to their own way, they seek their own gain.” (Isaiah 56:11)
• "So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy, cumbersome loads and put them on other people’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them." (Matthew 23:3-4)
